Household items that are toxic to your cat
Cats are curious, they will stick their head into anything and go anywhere around your house. It is ideal to know what is toxic for your furry friend around your home. Here is a list of the items you need to be aware of:
Caffeine
Chocolate
Grapes
Onions
Xylitol – found in sugarless gum and some candies
Yeast dough
Chicken bones (cooked)
Dental floss
Fertilizers
These are some plants that could be hazardous to your cat’s health:
Marijuana
Aloe
Mistletoe
Tulips
Some chemicals taste very good for cats but are fatal for cats. If you have a cat that is a sticky beak, lock these chemicals away so they cannot access them.
Bleach
Detergent
Dog flea and tick medication
Fertilizer
Herbicides
Insect and rodent bait
If your cat has been poisoned, please alert your local Vet immediately. It is also helpful to collect stool or even vomit samples of your cat so they know what has poisoned them. Do not use your hand, use a plastic spoon to scoop it into a sealed bag.
If they have been poisoned, here are some symptoms to look out for:
Dilated pupils
Coughing
Shivering
Seizures
Tremors
Vomiting
Diarrhea
A lot of saliva
Weakness
